Transparency & standards

Editorial Policy

These standards explain how Imam Mahdi Civilizition approaches research, citations, religious material, AI-assisted features, and reader corrections. We seek accuracy, transparency, and respect across scholarly traditions.

Policy reviewed 17 October 2026.

Purpose and scope

Imam Mahdi Civilizition publishes educational material about the Qur'an, hadith, tafsir, Islamic history, devotional practice, ethics, and research methods. Our aim is to make sources easier to explore, not to replace qualified scholarship or a reader's own critical judgement.

Sources and citations

Where practical, articles should cite primary texts, named editions or translations, collection and chapter details, hadith numbers where available, and credible academic or institutional research. References must be relevant to the claim they support. If a source's authenticity, dating, translation, or scholarly status is disputed, that uncertainty should be stated rather than hidden.

Respectful representation

We aim to represent Sunni, Ja'fari / Ithna Ashari, and other Muslim scholarly traditions accurately and respectfully. Differences in interpretation should be attributed to the relevant sources or scholars. We do not present sectarian insults, unsupported accusations, or political advocacy as neutral scholarship.

Research desk and reviewer transparency

The editorial desk checks whether citations support the claims, whether translations and historical dates have context, and whether important interpretive differences are represented fairly. The site does not currently publish a roster of named scholarly-board members or individual reviewer credentials; we therefore do not describe routine editorial checks as formal scholarly-board approval. Where a qualified external reviewer contributes and agrees to attribution, the relevant page should identify that review accurately. Readers may request corrections with a page URL and supporting evidence.

Editorial review and corrections

Content may be reviewed for factual accuracy, sourcing, clarity, respectful language, and relevance. Readers and scholars are welcome to report a possible error, broken citation, mistranslation, or missing context through our Contact page. We assess correction requests and update content when evidence supports a change; significant corrections should be reflected in the page's revision information where available.

AI-assisted content

AI tools may assist with discovery, drafting, translation, summarisation, or interface features. AI output can be incomplete or incorrect and is not itself a source of religious authority. Scripture, narrations, quotations, attributions, and important claims should be checked against reliable source material before publication. AI answers are not fatwas.

Hadith and religious rulings

A narration's appearance in a collection does not by itself settle its authenticity or interpretation. When available, we distinguish the source text from grading or commentary and identify the scholar or methodology behind a judgement. Questions that affect worship, family, or financial obligations should be referred to the reader's marja' or a qualified scholar.

Images, media, and third-party data

Images, videos, maps, APIs, and external links may be supplied by third parties. We aim to identify sources where appropriate and respect applicable licences and attribution requirements. Inclusion of a third-party resource is not an endorsement of every statement made by its publisher.
