Epistemic Isnad & Transmission Provenance Engine

علم الإسناد و التوثيق الشبكي

A source-led interactive study of how reports move through named transmitters, parallel teachers, and classical collections — with a modern graph model for examining provenance.

Conceptual lens

A historical method in conversation with modern provenance

For roughly fourteen centuries, Muslim scholars documented who transmitted reports from whom, compared routes, and scrutinized narrator relationships. A contemporary DAG can make some of that relational structure easier to inspect; cryptographic commitments can illustrate how a dataset changes when its recorded links change.

Five reports · five source-specific route fixtures

Selection controls switch the text, cited isnad route, city-origin view, and hash fixture together.

English rendering

I am leaving among you two weighty things; the first is the Book of Allah ... Then he said: “My Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.)—I remind you of your duties to the members of my family.”

Source and interpretation note

The graph compares the Sahih Muslim 2408a route with one distinct Imami route in Al-Kafi 2:1:179. The displayed matn follows Muslim; Al-Kafi transmits through Imam Ali (a.s.) and preserves different wording. Routes and textual variants remain separate, including differences in how Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) is described.

The displayed score and witness count are interface-demo values. They are not a published tawatur calculation, route census, or hadith grade.

Gold solid/dashed links mark explicit audition formulas; emerald dotted links preserve ʿanʿana. Both labels follow this source route only.

Method and limits

Read the route with its source attached

Each graph follows one cited collection route and points back to its source. Node scores, witness counts, and the SHA-256 fixture are interface demonstrations only; none replace a source edition, a complete rijal study, or scholarly evaluation of a report.

Edge labels preserve the distinction between explicit hearing language and ʿanʿana in the cited route. A direct-hearing phrase is a textual feature, not by itself a verdict on the entire chain.
