Tafsir of Surah Al-Asr
Al-'Asr declares that humanity is in loss except those who believe, do good, uphold truth, and counsel one another to patience.
Read Surah Al-Asr (3 verses) as a connected chapter: follow links between neighbouring verses and compare each passage with the wider Qur’anic context. The Arabic text and English and Urdu translations are rendered on this page before any commentary service loads. Use the source selector to compare available classical tafsir traditions; the Al-Mizan study guide is clearly marked as editorial notes, not a verbatim translation. If a remote commentary service is unavailable, the chapter text, translations, study introduction, and navigation remain available.
CONSIDER the flight of time!
Verily, man is bound to lose himself
unless he be of those who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity.
